A Florida-bred colt by Mitole   lit up the bid board late in the second session of the Ocala Breeders' March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training March 13, commanding a final bid of $725,000 from the Speedway Stables of Peter Fluor and K.C. Weiner, who were accompanied by bloodstock agent Marette Farrell. Consigned by Eddie Woods, the colt breezed an eye-catching eighth in :09 4/5 at the under tack preview.

From the second crop of 2019 champion male sprinter Mitole, the leading first-crop sire of 2023 and a leading second-crop sire this year, the dark bay or brown colt is out of the unraced Midnight Lute   mare Midnight Magic, a half sister to graded stakes winner Coalport  and Jolly Good Kitten , a stakes winner in France. The colt is a half brother to graded stakes winner Midnight Stroll  (by Not This Time  ), winner of the 2022 Delaware Oaks (G3) and an earner of $447,142, and stakes-placed Atthecrossroads  (Practical Joke  ).

"We love the dam's side. We feel that might stretch him out," noted Fluor. "He has a great physical. We loved the way he moved. We watched his breeze video many times. We've bought a lot of horses from Eddie over the years, and he always does a great job. The horse is the whole package. He will probably head out west to Bob Baffert."

A $250,000 acquisition for Quarter Pole Enterprises out of Sue Vacek's consignment at the 2023 OBS October Yearling Sale, the colt enjoyed a progressive winter under Woods' tutelage.

"He came up to the sale in sensational fashion," related Woods. "He was a beautiful yearling and just got better looking all winter. He is a total gentleman. I tried to buy his sister (Midnight Stroll) a few years ago but Tonja Terranova outbid me. I was the underbidder on her, and she turned out to be a very good filly. This colt is a similar kind only he looks a lot like Midnight Lute, who I sold as a 2-year-old."
