Fair Grounds Cancels March 17 Card, Heavy Rain Expected

Due to heavy rain expected in New Orleans March 17, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots canceled Sunday's racing. The National Weather Service forecasts one to two inches of rainfall.
Fair Grounds racing analyst Joe Kristufek said on the track's simulcast feed that the track would expand the amount of racing over the final two cards of the meet as a result of the cancellation. Those days are Louisiana Derby Day, March 23, and the following afternoon, March 24.
Entries for Louisiana Derby Day close March 16 and those for the final day of the meet will be taken Sunday.
