The Queens M G wins her debut race at Keeneland

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the photo examined by the Keeneland stewards in the April 7 opener was worth much more to Spendthrift Farm as their stallion Thousand Words   achieved his first winner from his first starter.

Breaking sharp beneath jockey Andres Calleja from the far outside gate, 2-year-old filly The Queens M G  battled throughout the entire 4 1/2-furlong maiden race with West Memorial . Their heads bobbed on the wire and the photo revealed The Queens M G on top by a head, lighting up the tote board at odds of 45-1 and finishing 11 lengths clear of third-place finisher Island Ride . The final time was :52.44.

Thousand Words is a multiple graded stakes winning son of Pioneerof the Nile that earned $327,500 on the track. Counted amongst his victories were the 2019 Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) and 2020 Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3). Later in 2020, Thousand Words defeated Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Honor A.P. in Del Mar's listed Shared Belief Stakes.

Thousand Words stands the 2024 season at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky for $5,000.

St George Sales consigned The Queens M G, out of the Grindstone mare Show Queen, at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale. She was purchased for $3,500 by Rigoberto Acevedo and is owned and trained by Israel Acevedo. Her debut victory earned $45,880.
