The under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales 2024 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training begins Sunday, April 7, and continues through Saturday, April 13. All seven sessions begin at 8:00 a.m.
Hips 1-173 will breeze on Sunday. Hips 174-345 go to the track Monday; Hips 346-518 breeze Tuesday; Hips 519-690 work Wednesday, Hips 691-863 breeze Thursday, Hips 864-1035 work on Friday and Hips 1036-1208 will go to the track Saturday.
The sale is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, through Friday, April 19, with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m. Hips 1-302 go on the block Tuesday, Hips 303-604 will be offered Wednesday, Hips 605-906 sell Thursday and Hips 907-1208 will sell on Friday.
The under tack show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and on YouTube and the TDN, DRF, Blood-Horse and Past The Wire websites. The workouts will be recorded and can be viewed on the website, in their entirety or by individual hip number. They will also be available in the video room as well as several kiosks in the breezeway and covered walking ring. Visitors to Ocala will find the videos available for in-room viewing at The Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton. OBS Spring grads win from coast to coast and overseas. Zedan Racing Stables's Arabian Knight, a two-time graded stakes winner, captured Del Mar's $1 Million Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) in frontrunning style. Trained by Bob Baffert, the Uncle Mo colt has compiled a 5-3-0-1 record and has earned $1,544,275. He was purchased by Gary Young on behalf of Zedan Racing for a sale-topping $2.3-million out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2022 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an under tack eighth in :9 4/5.
Bob Baffert also trains Zedan Racing's Arabian Lion, who took the $400,000 Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park. The colt by Justify, a two-time graded stakes winner, has compiled a 9-3-2-1 record and earned $498,100. He was purchased for $600,000 out of the Hidden Brook consignment at the 2022 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an under tack eighth in :10 flat.
Natalie J. Baffert and Debbie Lanni's Du Jour passed the million-dollar mark with his recent victory in the Santa Anita's $300,000 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park. It was the third graded win for the son of Temple City, trained by Bob Baffert, now 17-6-3-2 career record with $1,118,220 in earnings. At the 2020 OBS Spring Sale, he breezed an under tack eighth in :10 1/5 and was purchased for $280,000 out of the Off the Hook consignment by Donato Lanni, agent.
Pierre Jean Amestoy Jr., Leslie A. Amestoy, and Roger K. Beasley's Practical Move was a three-time graded stakes winner, the last a victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) for trainer Tim Yakteen. The 2022 OBS Spring Sale graduate, purchased for $230,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment after turning in an under tack eighth in :10 1/5, had an 8-5-1-2 record and earned $923,200 at the races.
FMQ Stables' Saudi Crown was a wire-to-wire winner of the $1,000,000 Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx in September for trainer Brad Cox. The son of Always Dreaming has a 9-4-2-1 career record with $2,982,085 in earnings. He was consigned by Top Line Sales, agent to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale and sold for $240,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat.
