Presque Isle Downs Facing Deer Problem

Description:

After cancelling five races due to deer on the track on June 22, Presque Isle Downs continues to face safety issues from the area critters.

On June 24, two deer ran along the outside rail and into some underbrush before the day's final race. Track photographer Renee Torbit of Coady Photography reports that after the field had cleared, a deer ran on the track in the backstretch.

In the head-on replay of the race, a deer can briefly be seen running along the outside rail as the horses enter the backstretch. Thomas Cooper's Earnings Release won the one-mile claiming race by three lengths. The race was not affected by the deer.

The deer didn't get a call.
