Team Valor International and Gary Barber's Triple Threat, an impressive off-the-pace winner of the June 7 Monmouth Stakes (gr. IIT), is being pointed toward the Aug. 15 Arlington Million (gr. IT).
Arlington International Racecourse reported June 27 that Team Valor chief executive officer Barry Irwin said Triple Threat, a 5-year-old French-bred horse by the German sire Monsun, is expected for the July 11 Arlington Handicap (gr. IIIT) at 1 3/16 miles as a prep for the Arlington Million. Triple Threat was expected for last year's Million, but a couple of poor efforts in Europe scrapped those plans.
The Monmouth Handicap marked Triple Threat's first race in the United States and first under trainer Bill Mott.
Arlington officials said the Arlington Handicap field is likely to include The Pizza Man, Yankee Dealer, and possibly Chocolate Ride, Lockout, and Ashleyluvssugar.
