Apprentice rider Tyler Gaffalione rode four winners on the June 27 card at Gulfstream Park, capturing the first, second, sixth, and eighth races.
Gaffalione, 20, has led Gulfstream's spring/summer jockey standings since early May and is set to earn his first riding title when the current meet ends July 1. As of Saturday, he has 67 victories at the meet, 24 more than second-leading rider Eddie Castro.
Gaffalione swept the early double Saturday, notching back-to-back wins aboard Fever Las Vegas ($4.40) and Zoom Box ($4.80) in the first and second races, respectively. In the sixth race, Gaffalione and High End Queen ($6.00) ran off to a decisive four-length score, which gave the 2-year-old filly her first career victory. He also gave the 4-year-old All Over It ($7.20) his maiden-breaking victory in the eighth race, as the gelding romped to an 18 1/4-length win in his career debut.
