Chop Chop Seeks to Follow Up Bewitch With Keertana Win

Chop Chop runs away with the Bewitch Stakes at Keeneland

The top four finishers from last month's Bewitch Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland square off about 70 miles down the road at Churchill Downs in the $250,000 Keertana Stakes May 25. The $250,000 Keertana, like the Bewitch, is a three-turn, 1 1/2-mile turf contest

The group is led by Chop Chop , who captured the Bewitch by 2 1/4 lengths over runner-up Atomic Blonde . Vergara  was third, another 4 1/2 lengths back, and Tower Bridge  came in fourth, 2 1/4 lengths behind the show finisher.

Though Selective's Chop Chop was best in the Bewitch, Atomic Blonde and Vergara are candidates to improve on Saturday, having made just their first starts of the year last month.

Axel Concepcion will ride Chop Chop, as he did in the Bewitch. Brad Cox trains the 4-year-old City of Light   filly.

Rain is forecast in the days before the Keertana, and a threat of precipitation is also in the long-term forecast for Saturday.
