Visually Stretches Out in Honeymoon

After becoming trainer Librado Barocio's first graded stakes winner, Visually  will attempt to make it two in a row in the $100,000 Honeymoon Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita Park June 1.

The signature victory came May 5 in the Senorita Stakes (G3T). Closing from off the pace in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint down the hill, the daughter of Enticed   pulled a 17-1 upset while winning by a length.

Never raced beyond a mile in nine starts, the 1 1/8-mile Honeymoon distance will prove the challenge for Visually. Helping her get the distance will be jockey Edwin Maldonado, who is a perfect 2-for-2 on the filly—her only two wins.

Owned by California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing, Fick Brothers Racing, Dario Bernardi, and George Monty, Visually has earned $139,400.

In her first start at the nine-furlong distance, and first start on grass, Resolute Racing's Shiloh's Mistress  came up a nose shy of graded glory in Santa Anita's Providencia Stakes (G3T) April 20. After setting the early pace, she dueled with odds-on favorite Medoro  the length of the stretch before settling for second.

A daughter of Vino Rosso   trained by Michael McCarthy and ridden by Umberto Rispoli, Shiloh's Mistress could be the pacesetter again should the same tactics be employed from the far outside gate.
