Crown Champ American Pharoah Returns to Work

After three weeks off following his Triple Crown sweep, Zayat Stables' American Pharoah returned to work June 29 with a three-furlong drill in :36 2/5, according to clockers at Santa Anita Park.
"Worked like the champ he is," Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said in a text message. "Cruised three-eighths."
"Awesome," Zayat Stables racing and stallion manager Justin Zayat tweeted following the workout under jockey Martin Garcia.
Previous to the workout, the 3-year-old colt's first since winning the June 6 Belmont Stakes Presented by DraftKings (gr. I) before a jubilant crowd of roughly 90,000 at Belmont Park, owner Ahmed Zayat tweeted that the son of Pioneerof the Nile "is a happy horse now back to doing what he loves."
The June 29 workout ended a brief break from competition for American Pharoah, who was paraded at Churchill Downs before returning to his home base at Santa Anita, where he also drew a large crowd June 27 when paraded between races.
The colt's connections are pointing American Pharoah to a season- and career-ending start in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) Oct. 31 at Keeneland, but they have not announced when he will make his next start.
