Nothing Like You wins the Santa Anita Oaks at Santa Anita Park

Only three fillies will meet Santa Anita Oaks (G2) winner Nothing Like You  in the June 8 Summertime Oaks (G2) at Santa Anita. However, each of the challengers is coming off a victory and is a promising prospect making her stakes debut.

Nothing Like You certainly has the most experience and success of the field for the 1 1/16-mile event. Last year at 2 she won back-to-back stakes toward the end of the season for trainer Bob Baffert. The daughter of Malibu Moon took the seven-furlong Desi Arnaz Stakes in the fall at Del Mar, followed by a victory in the 1 1/16-mile Starlet Stakes (G2) at Los Alamitos.

Being a member of the Baffert barn can mean that the stiffest competition often comes from down the shedrow, which is what happened to Nothing Like You in the Feb. 10 Las Virgenes Stakes (G3). Nothing Like You faced Kinza , a Baffert trainee who had blasted home by 7 1/2 lengths in her maiden voyage. Kinza won the Las Virgenes, while Nothing Like You finished fourth.

Jockey Juan Hernandez had ridden both fillies and piloted Kinza in the Las Virgenes, leaving Nothing Like You to Frankie Dettori. The two fillies met again in the Santa Anita Oaks, with Kinza expected to win. Instead, Nothing Like You--the "other" Baffert--stormed home by 7 1/2 lengths as part of Dettori's incredible six consecutive wins on the April 6 card.

"She's been drawing the one hole so many times, and he just kept her as clean as possible," Baffert noted after the Santa Anita Oaks.

The Santa Anita Oaks was the fourth consecutive time Nothing Like You had drawn the rail. For the Summertime Oaks she drew outside, in post 4. She will also be reunited with Hernandez, with Dettori riding at Saratoga over the weekend.

This time the "other" Baffert is Show Card , a daughter of Into Mischief  . Hernandez has ridden her in all four of her races--a seventh, a third, and then back-to-back wins. In that second victory, Show Card defeated Diamonds Danzing  by 2 1/2 lengths. Diamonds Danzing returned June 2 and scored by 3 3/4 lengths. Mike Smith takes over on Show Card from post 2.

Trainer Mark Glatt has entered undefeated Jane Austen , a daughter of Tapit  . Antonio Fresu, set to ride from the rail, has been aboard in both of the filly's starts. She broke her maiden at first asking by a neck going seven furlongs and then won by a half-length at a mile.

Sugar Fish , a daughter of Accelerate  trained by Jeff Mullins, has the biggest win margin of the quartet. In her fourth start, she broke her maiden by 10 lengths going seven furlongs. She added a second victory, this one by a head at a mile, April 26. Mullins has named Tyler Baze to ride from post 2.
