Popular race mare Tepin  produced her first winner when her daughter Grateful stormed down the stretch to break her maiden June 5 at the Curragh.

Grateful, a 3-year-old Galileo filly, is a homebred for the partners of the Coolmore breeding and racing operation. She became Tepin's first foal to hit the races from four offspring. Her first two foals, Tepin Thru Life (Curlin  ) and Swirl (Galileo), never started and her 2-year-old Delacroix, a colt by Dubawi , is yet to make his debut.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Grateful scored by a short head in her second career outing over another well-regarded Coolmore filly in Mother Nature in the 1 1/2-mile maiden special weight.

Tepin, inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 2022, was campaigned by Robert Masterson and trained by Mark Casse throughout her 23-start career. The daughter of Bernstein strode to two consecutive turf female championships in 2015-16, notching top-level stateside victories in the 2015 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T) and 2016 Woodbine Mile (G1T) against males and defeating her own sex in the 2016 Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T), 2015 First Lady Stakes (G1T), and 2015 Just a Game Stakes (G1T). A mile specialist, Tepin defied the odds in 2016 when she shipped overseas to capture Royal Ascot glory in a memorable running of the Queen Anne Stakes (G1).

Retiring with $4.4 million in earnings, Tepin was acquired by Coolmore for $8 million at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton November Sale from the ELiTE sales consignment.
