Global Legend breaks his maiden at Gulfstream Park
WinStar Farm's grade 1-winning stallion Global Campaign was represented by his first winner June 8 as Global Legend won a maiden special weight contested as Gulfstream Park's second race.
Racing in the colors of K E M Racing Stable, Global Legend broke sharp under jockey Miguel Vasquez in the 4 1/2-furlong sprint and immediately took control over the sloppy track. Challenged on the far turn, Global Legend shook off his competitors turning for home to win clear by three lengths in :53.37 in his career debut for trainer Mark Casse.
Bred in Florida by Dominique Damico, Global Legend was sold for $80,000 at the 2023 Ocala Breeders' Winter Mixed Sale. He is out of the winning Henny Hughes mare Im a Dixie Diva .
Global Campaign won the 2019 Peter Pan Stakes (G3) and placed in the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) at age 3. As a 4-year-old, he won the 2020 Monmouth Cup Stakes (G3) before breaking through at the top level with a 1 3/4-length victory in the 2020 Woodward Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course, defeating grade 1 winner Math Wizard and three-time grade 2 winner Tacitus . Global Campaign closed out his career with a solid third in the 2020 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) behind champions Authentic and Improbable .
Global Campaign stands the 2024 breeding season at WinStar for a fee of $12,500.
