While seven horses shared honors for the quickest eighth-mile time of the day during the June 8 Ocala Breeders' June 2-Year-Olds & Horses of Racing Age Sale under tack show, only one horse posted the session's fastest quarter-mile clocking.
Consigned by Omar Ramirez Bloodstock, a colt from the last crop of the deceased stallion Lord Nelson posted :20 4/5 for a quarter-mile to set the standard in Saturday's session. The long-striding colt, offered as Hip 809, was bred in Kentucky by Bernard and Karen King out of the Kodiak Kowboy mare Kodiak's Dancer. He comes from the family of black-type performers Radon Dancer and Baby Gray. Spendthrift stallion Lord Nelson died prematurely at the age of 9 after a long battle with laminitis. This year, he has sired Madison Stakes (G1) victress Alva Starr and Super Chow , winner of the Toboggan Stakes (G3), Tom Fool Handicap (G3), and Maryland Sprint Stakes (G3).
Although no horses equaled the sale's fastest eighth-mile of :09 4/5, seven juveniles stopped the timer in :10.
