The Twirling Candy filly consigned as Hip 509 breezes a quarter-mile in :20 2/5 during the June 6 OBS June Sale under tack show

A full sister to 2021 Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Rombauer   sped the fastest quarter-mile of the day when she clocked :20 2/5 June 6 during the third session of the Ocala Breeders' June 2-Year-Olds & Horses of Racing Age Sale under tack show.

John and Diane Fradkin, the owners of Rombauer, are the breeders of the Kentucky-born Twirling Candy   filly. Consigned as Hip 509, she is out of the Cowboy Cal  mare Cashmere, who is a half sister to graded stakes winners California Flag and Cambiocorsa. All six of Cashemere's foals to race have been winners. Apart from Rombauer, an earner of $1.04 million, Cashmere also produced the stakes-placed gelding Cono (Lucky Pulpit).

Offered under the Tom McCrocklin consignment, Hip 509 is slated to go through the ring during the sale's second day of selling, June 13. Three days into the under tack show, the final time of :20 2/5 matched the fastest quarter-mile of the sale thus far, which was set during the previous day's session by another Tom McCrocklin-consigned filly, Hip 187. The under tack show will conclude with the sixth session Sunday.

A pair of juveniles, Hip 452 and Hip 467, shared honors for Thursday's fastest eighth-mile clocking, stopping the timer in :09 4/5.

Hip 452, a Vino Rosso   filly named Nogueza, was picked up for $12,000 by consignor Aureliano Noguez of Golden Noguez at the 2023 Keeneland September Sale. The Kentucky-bred filly is out of the Bernardini mare Beach Time, who comes from the family of grade 1 winners Emcee and Constitution  .

A second filly, Hip 467, also completed the eighth-mile in :09 4/5 for the Santa Fe Thoroughbreds consignment. A Florida-bred daughter of first-crop sire Win Win Win   named Alia's Faith, the filly is produced from the Animal Kingdom  mare Biloxi Princess, whose two foals to race have been winners.

Under tack show breezes can be viewed via OBS' online catalog, which contains a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. Under tack videos, walking videos, and conformation photos also are available.

Under tack results and videos are posted on the OBS website and can be viewed on kiosks in the breezeway and in the video room adjacent to the horsemen's lounge.
