Intricate wins the 2023 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs

The Downs After Dark program at Churchill Downs June 15 will give competitors in both its $175,000 overnight stakes a chance to prove themselves before entering the second half of the year.

The 1 1/16-mile Monomoy Girl Overnight Stakes showcases six 3-year-old fillies searching for where they belong.

Intricate  appeared a rising star with a 5 1/4 length victory over Thorpedo Anna  in the 2023 Golden Rod Stakes (G2) at Churchill, but failed to make much impact on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Owners Bradley Thoroughbreds, Laura Leigh Stable, Scott Estes, and Cambron Equine will hope stepping down from graded company will get the Gun Runner   filly back on track.

D. J. Stable's grade 2 winner Webslinger  picked up his third top-level placing when third in the Turf Classic (G1T) at Churchill Downs May 4. A drop in class could help the Constitution   gelding end his year-long losing skid.
