A thrilling Belmont Stakes Racing Festival weekend at Saratoga Race Course caused a shake-up in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top 3-Year-Old and Thoroughbred Polls as each sees a new leader emerge June 11.
Thorpedo Anna continued her domination of the sophomore filly division with an easy 5 1/2-length victory in the June 7 Acorn Stakes (G1) despite losing a shoe. The performance made many believe she would have performed well against the boys in the Belmont Stakes (G1), and the national media voting on the NTRA's Top 3-Year-Old Poll agreed.
Thorpedo Anna received 20 first-place votes to take over the poll's top spot from Kentucky Derby (G1)-winning stablemate Mystik Dan by nine points. Belmont winner Dornoch surged into third thanks to his win and runner-up Mindframe breaks into the top 10 in sixth. Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) winner Book'em Danno rounds out the top 10.
National Treasure romped by 6 1/4 lengths in the June 8 Metropolitan Handicap (G1) for his second top-level victory of the year. The result bumped him into first place in the Top Thoroughbred Poll with a total of 25 first-place votes, overtaking the top spot from Saudi Cup (G1) winner Senor Buscador .
Grade 1 winners from the weekend, Randomized and Cogburn , make their first appearances on the leaderboard in seventh and eighth, respectively.
