Reddam Racing's homebred grade 1 winner Slow Down Andy has been sold for stud duty to Haras Firmamento in Argentina, according to Turf Diario.
The 5-year-old son of Nyquist is a graded stakes winner at 2, 3, and 4 who was retired in February due to a non-displaced sesamoid fracture. He compiled a 5-4-3 record from 14 starts and earned $1,276,600 with trainer Doug O'Neill.
"He has shown precocity, with a certain speed and that will improve with time," Ezequiel Valle with Haras Firmamento told Turf Diario. "When we met 'Andy' we didn't hesitate, because he has everything we want in a prospect."
The farm purchased Slow Down Andy outright and intends to keep him in Argentina. He is scheduled to arrive July 10 on the same flight as Darley Stallions' Maxfield , who is shuttling to Haras Firmamento for the second year.
Slow Down Andy was bred by J. Paul Reddam out of the Square Eddie mare Edwina E, making him a full brother to multiple stakes winner Team Merchants . Reddam also raced Square Eddie and Nyquist, the 2015 champion 2-year-old male and 2016 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner.
At 2, Slow Down Andy won his debut by 4 3/4 lengths and two races later won the 2021 Los Alamitos Futurity (G2). He later added the 2022 Del Mar Derby (G2T) and 2023 Awesome Again Stakes (G1) to his résumé. He was also third in the 2022 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and 2023 Pacific Classic Stakes (G1).
