WinBlaze's Goosebumps became the initial winner for first-crop sire Tom's d'Etat in breaking her maiden in the third race at Belterra Park June 15.
Fifth, five lengths off the early pace in the five-furlong race, she moved up a position into fourth exiting the turn before rallying past three rivals down the stretch. She hit the wire a length in front in a final time of 1:01.42 on a fast track under Albin Jimenez. She paid $10.20 to win.
Saturday's start in a $25,700 maiden race was the second outing for Goosebumps, who had been a distant runner-up in her debut at Belterra May 25. Tim Hamm trains the winner, who WinBlaze bred in Ohio out of the Malibu Moon mare Callisto .
Tom's d'Etat retired from racing at the end of 2020 and, in 2021, joined the stallion lineup at WinStar Farm, where the 11-year-old stallion currently stands for $7,500. His first foals are 2-year-olds.
Victorious in 11 of 20 starts with earnings of more than $1.7 million for G M B Racing and trainer Al Stall Jr., Tom's d'Etat notched signature wins in taking the 2019 Clark Stakes (G1) and the 2020 Stephen Foster Stakes (G2), both at Churchill Downs.
In the latter race, he rolled by 4 1/4 lengths and ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.30, just off Victory Gallop's track and stakes record of 1:47.28 set in the 1999 renewal of the Stephen Foster.
