The Maryland Horse Breeders Association announced June 18 that its membership elected four returning, and one new member to the 2024 board of directors. Dictated by MHBA bylaws, the annually held election fills five open seats on the board. Those elected will serve for the next three years.
Returning to the board, after having served in the past, are Brooke Bowman, Michael Horning, Josh Pons, and David Wade. Phil Schoenthal joins the board for the first time.
The five join current directors William K. Boniface, Amy Burk, Henry "Tim" Clark, Charles Fenwick Jr., Lisa Hofstetter, T. K Kuegler, Grace Merryman, Kent A. Murray, Gina Robb, and Thomas Rooney.
The MHBA's annual general membership meeting will take place June 19 at 12 p.m. at the Maryland Horse Library & Education Center in Reisterstown and on Zoom. Corey Johnson, interim CEO of the Maryland Thoroughbred Racetrack Operating Authority, will serve as the guest speaker.
