Fresh off of his Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) triumph June 29, Kingsbarns skyrockets into the top 5 of the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top Thoroughbred poll July 2.
Crossing the wire 2 1/2 lengths ahead of Pyrenees in the 1 1/8-mile race on the dirt at Churchill Downs gave the son of Uncle Mo his first grade 1 victory.
A contestant in the 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1), Kingsbarns experienced a meteoric rise in the poll. A week ago, the colt wasn't among the top 46 Thoroughbreds receiving votes; after Saturday's win he's fourth overall with 148 points, one more than Adare Manor .
He's now primed to move even higher in the poll later this year as the Stephen Foster earned him an automatic spot in the Nov. 2 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Del Mar.
National Treasure extended his grasp on the poll's top spot, adding 11 points for a total of 301.
Other changes in the poll include First Mission , ranked third a week ago, dropping out of the top 10; Idiomatic climbing one spot to No. 3; Cogburn returning to the top 10, moving up two spots to No. 9; The Chosen Vron fell one place to No. 10; and Didia fell out from No. 10, dropping one spot.
Senor Buscador , Adare Manor, Master of The Seas , Thorpedo Anna , and Randomized held onto positions 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8, respectively.
