Highlander Features Battle of the Sexes

Shrinking Violet is an impressive seven for 17 lifetime and won the Monrovia Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita Park in January. She was third in The Very One Stakes at Pimlico Race Course last out and is one of two females in the Highlander. This will be her first try on the Woodbine turf.

 

Something Extra set the pace before finishing second to Channel Marker in the Jaipur Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Belmont Park last out. He won the Shakertown Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland in April and has an excellent mark of 3-3-1 from eight starts over the Woodbine grass. Sharp Sensation won the Bet On Sunshine Stakes at Churchill Downs in November and has been on the sidelines since finishing second in the Kennedy Road Stakes (gr. II) over the Woodbine Polytrack in November. 

 

Mosler in April proved victorious in the Elusive Quality Stakes over the Belmont turf, but failed to menace after an impaired trip in the Jaipur. Go Blue Or Go Home is in the midst of a long dry spell, winless so far this year after not having won in 2014. He has won twice in four trips over the Woodbine lawn, however.

 

Reflector rallied from well back to win the five-furlong Need For Speed Stakes at Evangeline Downs in May and carries a two-race win streak into the Highlander, but figures to get tested for class. Katie's Eyes will be intriguing, as she brings a four-race winning streak into the Highlander, the last two in minor stakes at Keeneland and Churchill Downs. She is versatile, having won from a stalking position and on the front end. She won her ony start at the Highlander distance.
