1/ST Racing will extend the automatic qualifier, entry, and travel incentives for the inaugural running of the $1 million California Crown (G1) at Santa Anita Park to the connections of City of Troy  after his hard-fought win in the July 6 Coral-Eclipse Stakes (G1) at Sandown.

Through a partnership between 1/ST and The Jockey Club of the United Kingdom, with a victory in the Coral-Eclipse, City of Troy automatically qualified for the $750,000 California Crown John Henry Turf Championship (G2T) Sept. 28. However, City of Troy's ownership group, affiliated with Coolmore, and trainer Aidan O'Brien, are looking to make history with a win in the 1 1/4-mile Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) on dirt at Del Mar Nov. 2. The 1 1/8-mile California Crown, formerly the Awesome Again Stakes, is a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series: Win & You're In qualifier for the Breeders' Cup Classic.

"Aidan O'Brien has had incredible success at Santa Anita Park, with nearly half of his Breeders' Cup wins coming here," said Nate Newby, Santa Anita's senior vice president and general manager. "City of Troy's sire, Justify, loved Santa Anita Park, and it would be great for the fans to see this colt race here in the perfect prep to qualify for the Breeders' Cup Classic."

The July Cup (G1) July 13 at Newmarket will further serve as an automatic qualifier, with complimentary entry and travel incentives, for the California Crown Eddie D Turf Stakes (G2T), also Sept. 28.
