Grade 3 winner Name Changer , a son of the sensational stallion Uncle Mo standing in New York, was represented by his first winner July 14 as Tojo's Mojo took home a $47,000 maiden special weight at Laurel Park.
Tojo's Mojo took command early in the five-furlong sprint and turned away multiple challenges from Fire Pit . Opening up late, Tojo's Mojo won by three lengths while finishing 10 1/2 lengths ahead of the third-place finisher. The 2-year-old colt stopped the clock in :59.19 as the 3-5 favorite.
Name Changer was an eight-time winner from 24 starts and finished in the money 18 times. The highlight of his career came when taking the 2018 Monmouth Cup Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. He also won the 2016 Richard W. Small Stakes at Laurel Park and the 2018 Queens County Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack and was third in the 2016 West Virginia Derby (G2) at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort.
Out of the multiple stakes-winning mare Cash's Girl , Name Changer stood the 2024 breeding season at Kaz Hill Farm in New York for $2,500.
Bred in New York by Majestic View Farms, Tojo's Mojo was a $10,000 purchase from the Vinery Sales consignment at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale by John Salzman Jr., who trains the colt for owner Joanne Geruso. The victory increased his earnings to $37,600.
