Following an impressive performance in the $400,000 Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) at Del Mar July 27, The Chosen Vron has re-entered the top 10 in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top Thoroughbred Poll.
The 2 1/4-length win kept the 6-year-old Vronksy gelding undefeated through five starts this season, boosting his 2024 earnings to $510,000 and his career earnings to more than $1.6 million. The Chosen Vron is trained by Eric Kruljac, who also owns the gelding in partnership with Sondereker Racing, Robert Fetkin, and Richard Thornburgh.
Bumped out of the top 10 last week following Dornoch 's win in the Haskell Stakes (G1), The Chosen Vron immediately answered by solidifying his place among the best Thoroughbreds in the country. Receiving 99 points, The Chosen Vron now ranks eighth in the poll voted on by national media.
Repole Stable's Fierceness sits just outside the top 10 in 12th following his Saturday victory in the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course after receiving no votes in the weeks prior.
The poll could see a shake-up this week as top stakes action takes place at Saratoga, including the top-ranked National Treasure running in the $1 million Whitney Stakes (G1) Aug. 3. Amongst his 11 competitors will be First Mission (ranked 18th) and Post Time (22nd).
Also racing this weekend is 11th-ranked Cogburn in Saturday's Troy Stakes (G2T), and 14th-ranked Next is likely to start in the Birdstone Stakes Aug. 4.
