Helicity , who registered a strong runner-up effort July 20 in a Saratoga Race Course maiden special weight, sold to Pierre and Leslie Amestoy for $230,000 during a one-horse flash sale hosted by Inglis Digital USA Aug. 6.
The 2-year-old son of The Factor has finished in the money in both of his career starts, racing for the partnership of David Grund, Amanda Oster, and trainer Jack Sisterson.
In his latest start, Helicity moved up from three wide to lead deep into the stretch in a 1 1/16-mile race over Saratoga's inner turf before finishing second.
Helicity was based at Sisterson's barn at Saratoga Race Course during the flash sale, and he was available for viewing each morning leading up to the fall of the digital hammer.
On Sunday morning, Helicity breezed over Saratoga's Oklahoma training track during training hours for potential buyers to observe him in motion, clocking a half-mile in :48.89. He completed the workout sporting a saddle towel with Inglis Digital USA branding to stand out among the other horses on the track.
"We were excited with the great result and loved being able to sell at a time that suited the horse in between races and the horse never had to leave the barn," Sisterson said. "We will definitely be selling and buying in digital sales in the future."
Pierre and Leslie Amestoy are based in Albuquerque, N.M., and they were partners in Practical Move, the winner of the 2023 Santa Anita Derby (G1). The colt will remain with Sisterson under the new ownership.
Prior to the sale, Sisterson said he planned to target a race at Kentucky Downs for Helicity's next start. The colt could target the the $1 million Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint Sept. 1 or the $1 million Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Sept. 8. He could also enter a maiden special weight at the track, which boasts the largest maiden purses in the country at $170,000.
Bred in Kentucky by Nova Stables, Helicity is the first foal to race out of the winning Sky Mesa mare Chasing Helicity . His third dam is the grade 1 winner Sis City, and his extended family also includes grade 2 winners Swamp and Lady Grace , along with grade 3 winner Second City .
"We are delighted with the success achieved by Jack Sisterson and his partners," said Inglis Digital USA CEO Liza Hendriks. "The flash sale concept has proven to be a valuable model, enabling owners to capitalize on opportune moments for selling and offering buyers the ability to purchase horses that had previously been less accessible."
