The work, which followed a three-furlong work in :36 2/5 June 26 in his first breeze since winning the June 6 Belmont Stakes presented by DraftKings (gr. I), was the co-seventh-fastest of the day among 50 working that distance July 6.
"He was just cruising out there," Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said. "He looks good. He could run next week if we wanted him to."
Owner Ahmed Zayat earlier in July ended speculation about the Pioneerof the Nile colt's next start when he announced American Pharoah would return Aug. 2 in the $1 million, 1 1/8-mile William Hill Haskell at Monmouth Park. Baffert has won the Haskell a record seven times.
