White Filly Beautiful Devil Carries Tradition

Beautiful Devil, a rare white Thoroughbred bred and owned by Patchen Wilkes Farm, won in her second career start at Belterra Park in Ohio July 4.
The 3-year-old filly by Devil His Due out of the Skip Away mare Spot of Beauty won the fourth race, a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight event, for trainer William Connelly and rider Perry Ouzts. Beautiful Devil sat just off the early leader, made her bid on the far turn, and drew away to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:07.52 on a track rated fast.
Enotional Love was second and Empress Megan third. In her debut June 19 at Belterra Park, Beautiful Devil finished a distant sixth on a sloppy track in maiden special weight company.
Spot of Beauty is out of the white mare Patchen Beauty, who has produced five white foals from eight in total for the Lexington farm.
Patchen Beauty raced for four seasons from 1997-2000 with two victories, including her maiden-breaker at Turfway Park in December 1998. Three of her white foals—Spot of Beauty, The White Fox, and Patchen Prince—were winners on the racetrack.
Beautiful Devil's fifth dam is Patchen Wilkes' famous mare White Beauty, a foal of 1963 who was one of the first registered white Thoroughbreds.
