Derby Future Wager Pool 3 Begins Feb. 27

Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager opens its three-day run Feb. 27 at noon EST.
As usual, the pool features 24 wagering interests that consist of 23 horses and the always popular mutuel field, which includes all 3-year-olds other than the pool’s individual horses.
Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia installed the mutuel field the 6-1 morning line favorite. Holy Bull Stakes (gr. II) winner Cairo Prince and Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth (gr. II) third-place finisher Top Billing share the role of favored individual horses at 8-1 odds.
Derby Future betting will close March 1 at post time of the Gotham Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct Racetrack, which is scheduled for 4:17 p.m. EST.
Pool 3 of the 2014 Kentucky Derby Future Wager will run concurrently with the year’s only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool. The Oaks Future pool is scheduled to conclude at post time for the $100,000-added Santa Ysabel (gr. III) March 1 at Santa Anita Park, or 6 p.m. (EST), whichever comes first.
