Colt First Winner for Grade I Victor Dublin

Grade I winner and New York-based stallion Dublin   gained his first winner July 12, when 2-year-old Dr Blarney scored by 3 1/2 lengths in his debut in the first race at Monmouth Park .
 
Dublin, an 8-year-old son of Afleet Alex  , stands for Spendthrift Farm at Keane Stud near Amenia, N.Y. where he commanded a $6,500 fee in 2015. A participant in Spendthrift's Share The Upside and Breed Secure programs, he has 70 2-year-olds in his first crop.
 
Trained by Thomas McCooey Jr. for owner Alfred DiRico, Dr Blarney is the first starter for his sire. He won going away to finish the five-furlong race in :58.82 on a fast track. The chestnut gelding was bred in Massachusetts by Joseph DiRico from the Capote mare Dr. Capote, a half-sister to multiple stakes winners Dr Disco and Dance Gal Dance.
 
Dublin, out of the grade I-winning Storm Bird mare Classy Mirage, captured the 2009 Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) and bankrolled $438,949 in his three-season career. In 2010, he finished second in the Southwest Stakes (gr. III), and third in both the Arkansas Derby (gr. I) and Rebel Stakes (gr. II).
