Morning Fire won the second race at Parx Racing July 12 and became the first winner for multiple graded stakes winner and Maryland-based stallion Friesan Fire .
Friesan Fire, a 9-year-old son of A.P. Indy, stood in 2015 for a $4,000 fee at the Pons family's Country Life Farm near Bel Air, Md. He has 61 2-year-olds in his first crop.
Trained by Keith Nations for Stony Brook Stables, Morning Fire prompted the early pace before winning the five-furlong maiden special weight race by a neck in :59.57 on a fast track. Bred in Pennsylvania by Cynthia Hipple, the colt is out of the winning Press Card mare Four Star Morning, a half-sister to two stakes winners.
Winner of the 2009 Louisiana Derby (gr. II) and the favorite in that year's Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), Friesan Fire retired with a 5-1-3 career line from 18 career starts that included two other graded stakes victories. He earned $679,356 in four seasons. Friesan Fire's dam is Australian group I winner Bollinger, by Dehere, while second is Australian champion 2-year-old filly Bint Marscay.
