Special Aviator wins the Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream Park

WinStar Farm stallion Global Campaign   sired his first black-type stakes winner Oct. 26 when his daughter Special Aviator  captured the Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Trained by Rohan Crichton, Special Aviator graduated at first asking Sept. 21 going one mile and 70 yards on the Gulfstream Tapeta in a maiden special weight race originally carded for turf. The filly executed the jump to stakes company in the $75,000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes by a neck under jockey Edwin Gonzalez. She clocked the mile over a firm turf course in a final time of 1:35.67.

Special Aviator, bred in Kentucky by Mark Secrest, is the sole winner produced from the More Than Ready mare Off My Stage. The 2-year-old was purchased by Crichton for $100,000 earlier this spring at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training out of the Santa Fe Thoroughbreds consignment. She is campaigned by Crichton in partnership with Special Aviators and Span Investments.

Global Campaign was a grade 1 winner on the track for Sagamore Farm and breeder WinStar Farm. The son of Curlin   banked more than $1.3 million and had his biggest success during his 4-year-old campaign, in which he scored in the 2020 Woodward Handicap (G1) over Tacitus   and Math Wizard . Global Campaign has sired 12 winners from his first crop this year. He will stand the 2025 breeding season for a fee of $7,500.
