Filly First Winner for Schramsberg

Swift Thoroughbreds' first-time starter Hippie romped to a 4 3/4-length triumph July 12 at Hastings Racecourse, becoming the first winner for U.S. graded stakes winner and Canadian stallion Schramsberg.
 
Schramsberg, a 9-year-old son of Storm Cat out of 1995 champion 3-year-old filly Serena's Song, by Rahy, stands at Bar None Ranches in Dewinton, Alberta. He has 27 2-year-olds in his first crop. 
 
Trained by Dino Condilenios, Hippie covered six furlongs in 1:12.43 on a fast track. Bred in British Columbia by Tod Mtn. Thoroughbreds, the 2-year-old filly was produced by the Old Trieste mare Trieste Lady, also the dam of stakes winner Deviance (Bob and John  ).
 
Schramsberg captured the 2011 John B. Connally Turf Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) and two other stakes before retiring with a 6-3-3 career line from 24 career starts and earnings of $394,626. He is a full brother to grade II winner and sire Grand Reward and group I winner and stakes producer Sophisticat. He's a half-brother to grade II winner and sire Harlington and multiple stakes winner and stakes producer Serena's Tune.
