Ashford Stud, the American branch of global breeding and racing operation Coolmore, announced Nov. 4 its stud fees for 2025, led by rising international sire Justify , who will stand next year for $250,000.
Justify, a son of Scat Daddy and the 2018 American Triple Crown winner, sired black-type winners on four continents this year. His son City of Troy won three group 1 stakes that included the Epsom Derby (G1), Coral Eclipse Stakes (G1), and Juddmonte International Stakes (G1). He also is the sire this year of European group 1 winners Opera Singer and Ramatuelle ; North American graded stakes winners Buchu and Alpha Bella , and multiple United States stakes winners Miss Justify and Valentine Candy ; multiple Australian stakes winners Air Assault and Storm Boy; and Awesome Result , a multiple stakes winner in Japan.
Justify's 2025 fee puts him on par with Spendthrift Farm's multiple leading sire Into Mischief and Three Chimneys Farm's top sire Gun Runner .
New to Ashford's roster next year is Domestic Product , who emulated his sire, Practical Joke , when winning the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course. The 3-year-old Klaravich Stables homebred retires with a 4-2-1 record from 10 starts and earned $819,200. He is a three-time graded stakes winner who made his final start a good third in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar Nov. 2.
"Domestic Product is a striking individual," said Coolmore's Charlie O'Connor. "He was a top-notch racehorse and is by a very good sire in Practical Joke, who has enjoyed another great year highlighted by his two new grade 1 winners at Saratoga. We feel Domestic Product is extremely well-priced at $30,000 and is certain to prove popular with breeders. We were all thrilled with the runs of Sierra Leone and Fierceness in the Breeders' Cup Classic and look forward to them joining the roster in due course."
Practical Joke also enjoyed a strong racing season this year. The son of Into Mischief ranks 12th on the BloodHorse general leading sires list by progeny earnings but is co-ranked fourth by number of year to date graded stakes winners with seven, alongside Uncle Mo and Not This Time . Practical Joke's fee was raised to $75,000 from $45,000 earlier this year.
