Trained by Michael McCarthy and ridden by Umberto Rispoli, Formidable Man stalked the lead from third place and took over midstretch to post a one-length victory. King of Gosford finished second, and pacesetting Donegal Momentum hung on for third. Final time for 1 1/8 miles on the firm turf was 1:48.40.
Formidable Man paid $12.60 to win. His owners—Mr. and Mrs. William Warren Jr.—also campaigned Formidable Man's sire City of Light .
