Session 1 of the Fasig-Tipton December Digital Sale closed the evening of Dec. 10 with 187 horses sold for $4,423,500. The first session of the catalog offered horses of racing age, racing/broodmare prospects, broodmare prospects, yearlings, and weanlings. The session averaged $23,655 with a clearance rate of 76%.
Millie Girl (Hip 11), last year's Sovereign Award-winning champion older female, sold for $450,000 to Resolute Bloodstock to top the session. The 6-year-old daughter of Hard Spun was offered as a racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, from her base at Woodbine. Millie Girl is a multiple graded stakes winner with earnings of more than $450,000.
"We are really excited about purchasing Canadian champion Millie Girl," said John Stewart of Resolute Bloodstock. "She fits right into our breeding program. We will evaluate her future racing career, but we purchased her to eventually breed. It's exciting to have a sale like this on the digital platform this time of year with so many horses over two days."
The December Digital Sale concludes Wednesday, with hips 306-670 on offer. Bidding will close beginning at noon ET.
Tomorrow's session features more than 350 broodmares, including graded stakes producers, stakes performers, and mares in foal to the nation's leading sires and as well as promising young sires. More than 120 covering sires are represented.
The session will also offer one racing/broodmare prospect, Cruz Ramirez (Hip 346), a late supplement to the catalog. The 2-year-old daughter of Good Magic won her debut at Laurel Park this past Sunday.
"We could not be more pleased with the first session of our December Digital Sale," said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton director of digital sales. "With more than $4.4 million in sales and a 76% clearance rate, bidding was strong from start to finish.
"Tomorrow's session offers a high concentration of quality broodmares that fit a wide variety of breeding programs. There's still plenty of time for buyers to work through the catalog and get involved in the action."
