Milestones for Cape Cross, Exceed And Excel

Darley sires Cape Cross and Exceed And Excel recently reached the milestone of 100 individual stakes winners.
 
Jordan Princess captured the Newsells Park Stud Stakes July 18 at Newmarket to reach the landmark win for Cape Cross, according to Jockey Club statistics, while Out Do won the City Walls Stakes July 11 at York to reach the century mark for Exceed And Excel, Darley reported. 
 
Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's 4-year-old Jordan Princess made all the pace and won the Newsells Park Stud Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths while covering 1 1/2 miles 2:34.64 on firm turf. She is Darley-bred out of Barathea's group II-placed stakes winner Princess Nada, a half sister to Darley super sire Dubawi. British-bred Jordan Princess is trained by Luca Cumani. 
 
Cape Cross, a 21-year-old son of Green Desert out of English and Irish champion Park Appeal, by Ahonoora, stands at Kildangan Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland, where his 2015 was €20,000. Winner of the Juddmonte Lockinge (Eng-I) to highlight is race record, he was leading sire in England and France in 2009. 
 
Some of his top offspring include 2009 European Horse of the Year Sea The Stars, European and U.S. champion and classic producer Ouija Board, and 2015 Investec Epsom Derby (Eng-I) victor Golden Horn.
 
Evan M. Sutherland's Out Do took control late in the City Walls Stakes, winning by a neck after leading in the final 50 yards of the five-furlong sprint and covering the distance in :58 on good turf. David O'Meara trains the 6-year-old gelding, who was bred in Great Britain by Equibreed S.R.L. from the winning Cadeaux Genereux mare Ludynosa.  
 
Exceed And Excel, champion sprinter in Australia in 2009 and a leading sire in that nation, is a 15-year-old son of Danehill out of the winning Lomond mare Patrona. Based at Darley Kelvinside, his fee is set at Aus$110,000 for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere season. He shuttled to Kildangan Stud for the Northern Hemisphere season. 
 
Exceed And Excel's best progeny include 10 top-drawer winners, among them Australian star Helmet, 2013 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT) winner Outstrip, 2013 Golden Slipper (Aus-I) victress Overreach, and top-class miler Excelebration.
