Forever After All (white and green silks) rallies to catch Chop Chop in the La Prevoyante Stakes at Gulfstream Park

Kicking off the graded stakes action at Gulfstream Park Jan. 25, Pegasus World Cup day, Dixiana Farms' homebred Forever After All  rallied down the center of the turf course to edge Chop Chop  by a nose in the $150,000 La Prevoyante Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park.

The La Prevoyante was the first of seven graded stakes races on the South Florida track's program.

La Mehana  finished a close third. Favored Beautiful Love  offered only a mild bid and ran sixth.

Tyler Gaffalione piloted the Brendan Walsh-trained winner, a 6-year-old daughter of Connect  , who stands this year for $10,000 at Lane's End Farm in Central Kentucky.

She notched her first graded stakes victory from 22 starts following six prior stakes placings. Her record now stands at 3-10-2 for William Shively's Dixiana Farms. Timed in 2:26.06 for 1 1/2 miles on firm turf, she paid $13.60 to win.

"If ever there was a horse that deserved the win, it was her," Walsh said. This is great for Mr. Shively, for everyone at Dixiana. She's been on the go since she came to us last year and she has held her form."

Out of the Giant's Causeway mare Julia Tuttle , Forever After All is a half sister to Tom's d'Etat  , a grade 1 winner and current WinStar Farm stallion.

In other supporting stakes action:

  • Hammer Time Stable and Sport of King Racing Partners' Coppola  proved uncatchable in the $157,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes, defeating a deep field that included 2023 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) winner Nobals , who finished seventh after being bumped at the start. The Dale Romans-trained Coppola ($6.60) sped five furlongs on firm turf under Gaffalione in :54.43 after setting wicked splits of :20.82 of :42.67.
  • Pacesetting Little Vic  outlasted longshot Implementation  to win the one-mile $150,000 Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3). The 6-year-old son of Practical Joke  , trained by Juan Carlos Avila, raced a mile on a fast track in 1:36.52 and returned $19 for a $2 win wager. He races for retired major league baseball star Victor Martinez under his Victoria's Ranch stable.
  • Frankly Speaking's Dashman  went from the also-eligible list to the winner's circle by drawing into the $200,000 William L. McKnight Stakes (G3T) Saturday morning and then upsetting the field during the afternoon at 19-1 odds. Florent Geroux guided Dashman ($40.40) to a nose victory over Cash Equity , with the victorious son of Oscar Performance   running 1 1/2 miles on turf in 2:24.58.
  • After being on the losing end of a photo finish in the William L. McKnight, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. came out narrowly on top when his trainee Mystic Lake  ($6.40) grittily turned back Jody's Pride  and then outlasted Emery  to prevail by a neck in the $208,000 Inside Information Stakes (G2). The C2 Racing Stable and Stefania Farms-owned 4-year-old Mo Town   filly ran seven furlongs under Irad Ortiz Jr. in 1:22.59.
