Kicking off the graded stakes action at Gulfstream Park Jan. 25, Pegasus World Cup day, Dixiana Farms' homebred Forever After All rallied down the center of the turf course to edge Chop Chop by a nose in the $150,000 La Prevoyante Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park.
The La Prevoyante was the first of seven graded stakes races on the South Florida track's program.
La Mehana finished a close third. Favored Beautiful Love offered only a mild bid and ran sixth.
Tyler Gaffalione piloted the Brendan Walsh-trained winner, a 6-year-old daughter of Connect , who stands this year for $10,000 at Lane's End Farm in Central Kentucky.
She notched her first graded stakes victory from 22 starts following six prior stakes placings. Her record now stands at 3-10-2 for William Shively's Dixiana Farms. Timed in 2:26.06 for 1 1/2 miles on firm turf, she paid $13.60 to win.
"If ever there was a horse that deserved the win, it was her," Walsh said. This is great for Mr. Shively, for everyone at Dixiana. She's been on the go since she came to us last year and she has held her form."
Out of the Giant's Causeway mare Julia Tuttle , Forever After All is a half sister to Tom's d'Etat , a grade 1 winner and current WinStar Farm stallion.
