Perry and Ramona Bass lead Annapolis after winning the 2022 Turf Mile at Keeneland

The first reported foal by grade 1 winner Annapolis   has been born at Claiborne Farm, the farm announced Jan. 27.

The healthy colt is out of the grade 1-placed mare Home Cooking , who owner/breeder Ramona Bass purchased specifically to breed to Annapolis for $500,000 at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed sale. This is the first foal out of the 5-year-old Honor Code  mare, whose race record includes a runner-up finish in the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) for trainer Bob Baffert.

"The colt was born early this morning and we're very excited about him," said Claiborne farm manager Bradley Purcell. "It was a nice, easy delivery for the first-time mother. She's doing great and the foal is good size with correct bone, has good leg under him, very attractive, and has a lot of characteristics of his sire. We're very happy for Ramona and Perry."

Annapolis has been well received upon his retirement to Claiborne Farm, covering 149 mares his first season. The talented son of War Front   earned more than $1.58 million on the track, including a stakes record-setting victory in the Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland. Annapolis was a graded stakes winner at 2 and 3. He hails from an exceptional dirt family that includes winners of the Florida Derby (G1), Ashland Stakes (G1), Alabama Stakes (G1), and Travers Stakes (G1).
