The 2024 Auction Digest, an annual review of the North American Thoroughbred sales market, is now available on BloodHorse+.
This guide provides historical results by horse type—weanlings, yearlings, 2-year-olds, and broodmares—along with the leading sires for each category. Also available are results by purchase price range for weanling-to-yearling pinhooks and yearling-to-2-year-old pinhooks.
Hip-by-hip results by sire and by horse type are the heart of the digest. The Auction Digest does not include all stallions whose progeny were offered at auction, however. Included are those stallions that met at least one of the following criteria with a minimum of three sold in one of the categories:
For each horse type category is the published stud fee at conception for that crop and a summary of results for the year, followed by a listing of the stallion's progeny that were offered at North American sales. Each sales horse is identified by sex and dam. Each result includes the sale code, hip number, buyer, and the sale horse's price. For horses that did not meet a reserve price, the fall-of-the-hammer price is published in parentheses. Yearling sale summaries include the times national average (TNA) ratio, which compares a sire's yearling average to the average price of all North American yearlings sold in 2024 (including winter mixed sales).
