Parx Racing and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course have canceled their racing cards for the second day in a row Feb. 18 as high winds and inclement weather continue to hit the region.

Their closure leaves Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Ariz., as the lone Thoroughbred track open for racing Tuesday.

The National Weather Service forecast wind gusts of 30 mph Tuesday in Bensalem, Pa., home of Parx, that would create a wind chill temperature in the single digits. Youngstown, Ohio, home of Mahoning Valley, had a windchill of minus 4 F late Tuesday morning with light snow being forecast.

Extreme cold temperatures have also led Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., to move their Feb. 19 card in its entirety to Feb. 23, with first post time scheduled for 4:15 p.m. ET. Additionally, Turfway has canceled the Feb. 20 card and will reschedule its 10 races as extras on upcoming race days.

Turfway Park does not expect there to be changes to its Feb. 21 card that features the $175,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks or its Feb. 22 card that features the $175,000 John Battaglia Memorial Stakes on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
