The Caracaro filly consigned as Hip 446 works in :09 3/5 during the under tack show for the OBS March Sale

Without the strong headwinds that hampered breezers yesterday, times were fast and furious Day 2 of the Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training under tack show. Three juveniles posted sale-best quarter-mile breezes in :20 2/5 while a 2-year-old filly lowered the top eighth of a mile time to a sizzling :09 3/5 March 7.

A Kentucky-bred filly by second-crop sire Caracaro   recorded the fastest furlong clocking of the sale thus far when she zipped :09 3/5 during the second set of the March 7 under tack show.

Consigned as Hip 446 by On The Run Sales, the filly is the first foal out of the unraced Point of Entry   mare Point Marazion. She was bred by the McLean family, who stand Caracaro at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky.

"I didn't know she would go that 9 and 3, I thought maybe she would go 10 flat or 9 and 4. I didn't expect that so I was happy with that," said On The Run Sales' Moses Longoria. "I have another one for the next sale but just have this filly here (for the March sale). She's a nice horse. She's real athletic and I always felt like she was going to be fast. I've just been babying her the whole time trying to save it until we got here.

"It's a nice pedigree she has, and she's always felt real athletic the whole time. I've always liked her, she's always been a nice filly. I've just kept my fingers crossed."

Hip 446, a $16,000 buyback at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, hails from the family of graded stakes winners Pomeroys Pistol, Thousand Words  , and Toowindytohaulrox.

Twenty-three individuals tied for the second-fastest furlong of the day, getting the eighth-mile in :09 4/5.

A trio of 2-year-olds, two colts and a filly, drilled a quarter-mile in :20 2/5 Thursday.

The filly of the group, Hip 505, is by freshman stallion Leinster  , who will be represented by his first crop on the track this year for Pleasant Acres Stallions. Bred in Florida by her consignor, Tom McCrocklin, and Frank Mermenstein, the filly is the third foal out of the winning Tribal Rule mare Sea Smoke and is sibling to two winners.

Hip 325 and Hip 364 are a pair of Kentucky-bred colts by Midshipman   and Mor Spirit  , respectively. Hip 325 was purchased for $140,000 by Arroyo Bloodstock at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Consigned by Caliente Thoroughbreds, the Midshipman colt is out of a half sister to graded stakes-winning sprinter and budding stallion Bucchero   and comes from the family of dual-surface grade 1 winner World of Trouble .

Consigned under the Pick View banner, Hip 364 is a son of Mor Spirit and the winning Liam's Map   mare Mopsicle. Pick View acquired the colt for $62,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale.

The OBS March under tack show has been consolidated to three days after rain and strong winds canceled the March 5 session. The final day of the under tack show concludes March 8 with hips 545-814 scheduled to breeze. The under tack session will start at 8 a.m. ET.

All under tack sessions are streamed live on the OBS website at obssales.com, as well as on BloodHorse.com.

The sale will take place March 11-13 with sessions beginning at 11 a.m. ET each day.
