July 29 College Day at Saratoga Race Course

Ten scholarships of $1,000 each and free admission for eligible college students highlight the seventh annual College Day at Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday, July 29.

The New York Racing Association, Inc. will offer free grandstand admission to all college students who pre-register at www.saratogacollegeday.com.



College students enrolled for the upcoming academic year will have the opportunity to win one of ten $1,000 scholarships offered throughout the day. Registration for the scholarships begins at 11 a.m. at the Saratoga Pavilion. One scholarship recipient will be announced following each race on the day's card. Toyota and Hannoush Jewelers will present two of the day's scholarships. Students must present valid college identification to be eligible for the scholarships.



Additional scholarships awarded on College Day and scholarship-related highlights include:

 

The New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. will present the $5,000 Gerald A. Nielsen Sr. New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. Scholarship to Tate Morris and the $5,000 Debby Malloy Winkler New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. Scholarship to Courtney O'Connell. Both students are enrolled in an equine program at a New York State school.

 

The New York State Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund is awarding six scholarships of $3,000 each for a total of $18,000 to students who will be pursuing careers in New York State's Thoroughbred racing or breeding industries. 



Additionally, students who pre-register through the event page at www.saratogacollegeday.com will have the option to share the event on Facebook to be entered to win a free FitBit Flex. Three winners will be randomly selected.



The summer meet at Saratoga Race Course begins on Friday, July 24, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. More information at www.nyra.com.
