Reigning Triple Crown champion American Pharoah worked this morning at Del Mar in preparation for the upcoming $1-million William Hill Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on August 2.

The colt worked six furlongs in 1:11 flat, the fastest time for the six furlongs over the track today and nearly a half second faster than he worked last Saturday over the same distance.

Trainer Bob Baffert said that American Pharoah will work again on Tuesday July 28 before shipping to Monmouth Park on Wednesday.
Owner Ahmed Zayat and racing manager Justin Zayat were in attendance to watch American Pharoah’s workout. After the workout, Bob Baffert asked jockey Martin Garcia, who works most of Baffert’s horses, over the radio if American Pharoah was tired and Garcia replied with “Nada”.

The Haskell will be American Pharoah’s first start since winning the Belmont Stakes and securing the Triple Crown on June 6. He will be ridden by regular jockey Victor Espinoza in the Haskell, Espinoza has ridden Pharoah in all but one of his eight starts.
