American Pharoah Expected at Monmouth July 29

Monmouth Park reports that Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is scheduled to arrive at the Oceanport, N.J. track July 29, as he prepares to start in the $1 million William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. I) Aug. 2.

A police escort is planned to shuttle Zayat Stables' American Pharoah to the track after he arrives at Atlantic City International Airport Wednesday. He is scheduled to be bedded down in Kelly Breen's Monmouth barn.

The track reports the Triple Crown winner will exercise for trainer Bob Baffert between 7:30-7:50 a.m. ET July 30, 31, and Aug. 1. That 20-minute timeframe has been reserved for horses being pointed to the Haskell.

In addition to American Pharoah, the likely field for the 48th renewal of the Haskell Invitational consists of: Mr. Jordan, Competitive Edge, Keen Ice, War Story, and Tekton. The race will be telecast live on NBC from 5-6 p.m. Gates will open at 9 a.m. on race day with first post set for 11:30 a.m.
