Lennilu breaks her maiden at Keeneland

Pleasant Acres Stallions' Leinster   got his stallion career off to a quick start April 6 as his 2-year-old filly, Lennilu , took the opening race of Keeneland's spring meet, a 4 1/2-furlong maiden race.

The first starter for her sire, Lennilu broke well beneath jockey Luis Saez and settled off the pace before making an inside rally entering the stretch. Pointed to the outside of pacesetting Kadabra  at the eighth pole, Lennilu kicked into gear and surged past to win by one length. She completed the distance over a sloppy track in :52.32.

Lennilu is owned by Amy Dunne and trained by Patrick Biancone. She was bred in Florida by Helen and Joseph Barbazon and is out of the winning Pomeroy mare Lulu's Pom Pom

Leinster was a six-time winner in 24 starts on the track, earning $764,971. A top turf sprinter, he won the Troy Stakes (G3T) at Saratoga Race Course during his 4-year-old season in addition to placings in Kentucky Downs' Turf Sprint Stakes (G3T) and Woodford Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland.

At 5, he won the Shakertown Stakes (G2T) and Woodford at Keeneland before finishing third in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T). He capped his career by winning the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes (G3T) in his lone start at 6.
