The idea was to strike while the iron was hot, and Choisya did just that April 12 when she won the Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T) going 1 1/16 miles on the grass.
"She really took to everything the two weeks she's been here, and she's very happy," said John Clarke, assistant to trainer Simon Crisford.
Now a 5-year-old, Choisya brought a two-race win streak from grade 2 events in Dubai to Keeneland.
"She is a filly on the improve and when they are improving like that, just leave them alone and let them go about their business," Clarke said.
In the Jenny Wiley, Choisya received a ground-saving trip from Luis Saez. She made the lead at the top of the stretch and held off a late bid from favored Excellent Truth to prevail by a half-length.
"She got the perfect trip and did everything right," Clarke said.
Choisya is scheduled to fly back to England April 14.
"She will probably get a little break and the plan is to come back for the race at Saratoga," Clarke said, referring to the $500,000 Diana Stakes (G1) at 1 1/8 miles July 12.
In her start prior to the Jenny Wiley, Choisya handled the 1 1/8-mile distance with a victory in the Balanchine (G2) in which she defeated Cinderella's Dream , the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) runner-up who won the Belmont Oaks Invitational (G1T) and Saratoga Oaks Invitational (G2) in the summer of 2024.
