Realm First Winner for Haynesfield

First-time starter Realm took the first race at Saratoga Race Course July 25, providing Central Kentucky stallion Haynesfield   his first winner as a sire.
 
Haynesfield, a 9-year-old son of Speightstown  , stands at Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky. where his 2015 fee was $10,000. He has 78 2-year-olds in his first crop.  
 
Out of grade II-placed stakes winner Nothing Special, by Tejabo, Haynesfield captured the 2010 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (gr. I) and seven other stakes and earned more than $1.3 million.
 
Racing for the partnership of Eric Dattner, trainer Barclay Tagg, and Harry Astarita, 11-1 Realm raced with the pacesetter, shook off that rival in early stretch, and stayed on for a 1 3/4 length win in 1:05 for 5 1/2 furlongs on a fast track. The bay colt out of three-time grade III winner Shawnee Country, by Chief's Crown was bred in Virginia by Morgan's Ford Farm. Dattner bought him from Allied Bloodstock for $75,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale.
