Wilburn is a 7-year-old son of Bernardini, out of grade III winner Moonlight Sonata, by Carson City, and stood in 2015 for a $6,500 fee at Spendthrift Farm near Lexington. A participant in Spendthrift's "Share The Upside" and "Breed Secure" programs, he has 105 2-year-olds in his first crop.
Wilburn scored his biggest victory in the 2011 Indiana Derby (gr. II), defeating Preakness Stakes (gr. I) victor Shackleford and eventual grade I winner Caleb's Posse.
Simply a Treasure won by 4 1/2 lengths and covered the five-furlong maiden special weight race in 1:00.20. The 2-year-old filly is out of the winning Royal Academy mare Simply the Fox. She was bred in Illinois by owners Bilbrey Farms and Steve Manley, who also trains her.
