Seven Share Fastest Time at F-T Midlantic Breeze Show

The Tiz the Law colt consigned as Hip 189 breezes one furlong in :10 1/5 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale

The first under tack show of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale concluded May 14 with seven juveniles tying for the fastest furlong at :10 1/5. A colt by Complexity   breezed the fastest quarter-mile in :21 4/5 over a wet track Wednesday afternoon.

The top hips included:

  • Hip 20, a dark bay or brown filly by Classic Empire  out of Bourbon Endowment, who is a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Laura's Light  and two other stakes winners. The New York-bred filly is consigned by Endurance Equine, agent.
  • Blame Kate (Hip 64), a filly by Blame   consigned by Crane Thoroughbred Services, agent. She is the fifth foal of the Bernardini mare Collections Choice, whose four previous foals are winners.
  • Hip 96, a colt by first-crop sire Engage  , consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales. The Maryland-bred, Maryland Million-certified colt is out of the In Summation mare Ecliptical Mary.
  • Hip 187, a colt by first-crop sire Galilean  , out of the winning Mineshaft   mare It's Timeless. The bay colt is the second foal of the mare who is a half sister to stakes winner Never Enough Time . He was bred in New York and is consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent.
  • Hip 189, a colt by Tiz the Law  , consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent. He was a $95,000 purchase at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Pura Vida Investments. The bay colt is out of the stakes-placed Broken Vow mare Janis's Joy, who hails from the family of grade 1 winner Arabian Knight  .
  • Hip 194, a colt by first-crop sire Yaupon   out of the multiple graded stakes winner Just Jenda , who earned more than $750,000 in her career. This is the mare's seventh foal, with four to race, all winners, two of them stakes winners. The bay colt was purchased for $130,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September sale for $130,000 by SGV Thoroughbreds, who consigns New York-bred colt.
  • Hip 199, a colt by first-crop sire Maxfield  , consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, agent. He is out of the multiple stakes-winning, graded stakes-placed mare Kathballu . The bay colt was a $300,000 weanling purchase, and sold again for $250,000 as a yearling at Keeneland September, where he was picked up by his 2-year-old consignors Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds.

Hip 54, a colt by Complexity, consigned by Hoppel, agent, breezed the fastest quarter-mile in :21 4/5. He was picked up by pinhooker Jesse Hoppel at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale for $35,000. He is the fifth foal of the mare Cheerleader, whose three other foals to start are all winners.

The under tack show resumes May 15 at 9 a.m. ET, a one-hour delay from the original start time of 8 a.m., to allow the track maintenance staff additional time to prepare the track following the continuous rain. Hips 201-400 will head to the track for the second day, with the under tack show wrapping up May 16.
